Haush Launches its New Green Hydrogen, Headquarters in Pembroke Dock, Wales

by | Jan 7, 2025

In a bold leap towards a greener future, Haush has unveiled its cutting-edge Green Hydrogen production facility and global headquarters at Pembroke Dock, Wales. In collaboration with the Port of Milford Haven, this groundbreaking initiative solidifies Haush’s position as a trailblazer in the UK’s renewable energy sector.

State-of-the-Art Green Hydrogen Facility

At the heart of Pembroke Dock lies Haush’s transformative Green Hydrogen facility, spanning a 9-acre site within the newly revitalised Pembroke Harbour. This advanced hub boasts a production capacity of 120MW and will deliver up to 60,000 kilograms of green hydrogen daily by 2028, starting with an initial output of 5,000 kilograms in 2026. With these numbers, Haush is set to become a leading producer of green hydrogen in the UK.

Powered by renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, Haush’s green hydrogen technology offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. This innovation is key to decarbonising critical sectors like transport, construction, industry, and heating across Wales and the UK. By 2030, Haush’s facilities in Wales, Scotland, and England are expected to play a pivotal role in achieving the UK’s hydrogen production targets.

Pembroke Dock: A Catalyst for Renewable Energy

The transformation of Pembroke Port, completed in August 2024, underscores Wales’ commitment to renewable energy. Equipped with a state-of-the-art “supersized slipway,” the port is tailor-made to support renewable projects. Central to this revamp is the installation of a robust concrete slab at Haush’s site, paving the way for the deployment of its green hydrogen production plant.

These enhancements have already sparked significant economic benefits, creating significant number of new jobs and attracting global investment in green technologies. Positioned at the heart of this development, Haush is driving Wales’ hydrogen infrastructure forward and showcasing the nation as a leader in renewable energy innovation.

Celtic Freeport and Job Creation

Haush’s integration into the Celtic Freeport initiative marks a turning point for economic growth and job creation in the region. Building on the legacy of the Pembroke Doc Marine project, the Celtic Freeport is projected to generate up to 16,000 jobs across sectors like construction and renewable energy.

Haush’s Global Headquarters

Housed in the historic Fleet Surgeon’s House at Pembroke Dock, will oversee local operations and spearhead national and international expansion. This headquarters will also feature an education and resource centre, fostering partnerships with colleges and universities to develop a skilled workforce, further strengthening Wales’ green energy future.

Collaborative Partnerships Driving Innovation

Haush is not working alone. The company is collaborating with several key players to realise the full potential of Pembroke’s green energy transition. Ledwood Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Pembroke Dock is a specialist in gas and energy project management and will work closely with Haush to design, develop, and maintain the green hydrogen production plant. Ledwood’s extensive experience in liquified natural gas (LNG) storage facilities has played a leading role in the development of LNG process installations at the UK’s first major storage terminals at South Hook, Dragon and Isle of Grain, which qualifies them to develop, operate and maintain the Haush Green Hydrogen production plant.

Leadership Perspectives

Richard Winterbourne, CEO of Haush Ltd, celebrated this achievement: “This is a monumental milestone for Haush and the UK’s green energy sector. Pembroke Doc’s strategic location, renewable energy resources, and historic infrastructure make it the ideal hub for green hydrogen innovation. Together with Milford Haven Port, we are committed to decarbonising the UK’s industries while driving significant economic growth.”

Haush CTO Joanna Oliver said, “Haush will be operating at the leading edge of green hydrogen technology and hopes to play a major role in making the local green energy transition a reality.

Welsh Government Backing and Community Impact

The Welsh Economy, Energy and Planning Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Evans MS, was given a tour of the new Milford Haven site by Haush CEO Richard Winterbourne, CTO Joanna Oliver, COO Adam Hill, and CFO Peter Kristensen on Thursday 12 December 2024.

Rebecca Evans said: “Jobs and green growth are a priority for this Welsh Government, so I am delighted Haush has chosen to make Milford Haven the base of its new UK head office.

The company has ambitious growth plans, which align with our aspirations to see Wales become a global leader in new renewable energy generation. This investment will be good for our climate and our economy, and will generate quality, skilled jobs.

Haush has indicated its intention to train local residents to the highest standards for all of the jobs created in Milford Haven, and to expand to the surrounding community the educational aspect of all they do.”
